Generation Vote Activities

Generation Vote engages in a number of activities to reach its goals. Here's what we are putting most of our energy into:
  1. Local Trainings/Events
Support members, as part of the GenVote “Next Generation Election Action Summer”, to coordinate and collaborate on local skills trainings, issue forums, cultural events and strategic planning sessions in target communities to inspire and prepare young people to develop and lead vote work initiatives on their campuses and in their communities. GenVote support will include technical assistance and funding to increase the effectiveness and broaden the scope and reach of local trainings as well as subsidies to encourage cross-participation in member trainings.

  2. National Strategy Sessions
Convene key staff and volunteer-leaders of member and ally organizations for national strategic planning sessions in June and December. June convening goals will include development of coordinated gotv, voter registration, state/local table, media/messaging and election protection plans as well as the updating and dissemination of a master calendar of trainings, actions and other activities. After the November elections, we will bring members and allies back together to evaluate our 2008 activities and plan for the sustainability of an ongoing collaborative civic engagement initiative, grounded in the GenVote issues platform.

  3. Coordinated Field Programs
Coordinate and promote “National Weeks of Action”, involving simultaneous voter education, engagement, registration, mobilization and protection activities on campuses and communities in targeted states/cities, nation-wide.

  4. Issues Platform/Voter Guide
GenVote members will develop and disseminate a national youth issues platform and voter guide and support local affiliates, chapters and members to create state and local platforms and voter guides.

  5. Online Organizing/Outreach
GenVote will carry out online outreach, documentation and promotion activities to promote GenVote activities, issues and messages.

  6. Conference Participation
Develop, promote and facilitate a collaborative “youth vote track”, including workshops and panels, for relevant local, regional and national conferences.

  7. Voter File/Data System
Share and manage a voter file and voter data management system.

  8. Election Protection
Support election protection/administration activities in target communities led by partners and ally organizations.

  9. Media/Communications
Coordinate media/communications, including outreach, advocacy and training, across partners and allies.

  10. State and Local Table Leadership
GenVote will encourage and directly support increased and more strategic youth and student organization participation in local and state voter engagement tables.
